As tradition would have it, the Florida Blue Florida Classic weekend is fast approaching. The annual football game between friendly rivals Bethune-Cookman University Wildcats and Florida A & M University Rattlers will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Camping World Stadium and is preceded by several noteworthy events including the Battle of the Bands, mega-tailgating with lots of vendors, and various soirees. This year’s classic weekend will kick-off with an inaugural event at the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center on Thursday, November 15th.  The Florida Classic Consortium will present scholarships and “Classic Awards” to students from all over Florida who have made a significant impact in the Service and Leadership, Business, STEM and Education fields at both universities followed by a comedy show featuring world-renowned comic Cedric the Entertainer. Join the ‘third Thursday Gallery Hop’ in downtown Orlando featuring venues such as CityArts Factory and Redefine Gallery. The gallery hop is a great business networking event and takes place from 6-9pm in the Downtown Arts District every 3rd Thursday.

If you’re looking for a change of scenery and a chance to get your laugh on, check out the Drunken Monkey Coffee Bar at 444 N. Bumby Avenue (Bumby and Amelia) in Orlando. Standup comedy is showcased every Friday and Saturday from 8:30-10:30pm a features a bevy of local comics. They also have open mic on Saturdays for aspiring comics.
