The Florida Classic
It’s that time of the year when leaves begin to fall from the trees, a slight breeze begins to accent the evening shade and famous college rivalries meet on the gridiron to determine once again, which is the best football team. The Florida Classic with Bethune-Cookman University versus Florida A&M University is one the most highly anticipated football game in the history of HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). The game will be at Camping World Stadium in Orlando on Saturday, November 23, 2019. Kick-off is at 11:30 am and will be televised nationally by ESPN Classic as a part of a multi-year contract with the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Florida A&M enjoys the longest winning streak with 19 wins between 1953 and 1972. The current winning streak is Bethune-Cookman with 8 wins from 2011 to present. The teams have faced each other on the field seventy-four times with Florida A&M celebrating the largest victory of 97 – 0 in 1960.
