Orlando Mayoral Debate 2019
On Thursday, October 24, 2019 two challengers, Orlando City Commissioner Sam Ings and Navy veteran Aretha Simons will meet Orlando Mayoral incumbent Buddy Dyer at the podium for an exclusive televised Mayoral debate. Spectrum News 13 anchor Ybeth Bruzual and reporter Greg Angel co-moderate this event which promises lively discussions and exchanges regarding the future of Orlando, the City Beautiful. The event will take place at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, 445 South Magnolia Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801. Mayor Dyer has held office for the past 16 years. The debate will air live on Spectrum News 13. All attendees must check-in and present tickets upon entry. Doors open at 6:00pm with no entry into the event after 6:45pm. The Children’s Safety Village 8th Annual Trunk or Treat event will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2019, between 11:00am – 2:00pm. This FREE event is billed as a safe alternative to traditional Trick-or-Treating during the Halloween festivities and is open to the community. While it isn’t required, children may dress up in costume. Community partners, businesses and organizations will decorate the trunks of their cars and distribute “treats” to the children along with important information on safety of goods/services to the adults attending. Signage will direct attendees to vehicles parked around the Village’s 8-acre gated property and families and children will be encouraged to “trunk or treat” to each vehicle.
