Orlando has its Share of Fine Wineries
Orlando has its share of fine wineries in and around the City Beautiful. These independently owned establishments offer a wide variety of vino and food pairings that more than meet the expectations of a tenured sommelier. Some samplings are simple and tame yet fragrant while others are pungent, seem to bite back and beg for accompaniment. In the Mills 50 District of Orlando, you’ll find the Quantum Leap Winery open Tuesday through Saturday from noon until 8:00 pm. Quantum Leap Winery, among others, hosts free open tasting rooms and provide tours, by request, of their facilities during those same hours. Additionally, ‘Wine Down’ events are held on the second Friday of each month with no admission costs from 7 to 10:00 pm. The Hutchinson Farm Winery is located at 8061 Stone Road in Apopka, Florida. Patrons tout the owners of this “hidden gem” and their canine companions as “gracious hosts”. True Blue Winery is located less than thirty miles away in the heart of historic Davenport, Florida at 604 Pink Apartment Road. They are open daily until 5:00 pm and offer a “friendly atmosphere with a small town charm.” The winery has a variety of prize-winning homemade wines that are created at their location, literally in their own backyard. True Blue Winery boasts a blueberry wine made from their own orchard that is available by the bottle or the glass. On Fridays and Saturdays only they make a delicious pizza using their outdoor, stone pizza oven.
