The Lambda Mu chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. will present their annual breast cancer awareness dinner and award ceremony on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Live Oak Cypress Room, 4115 Pyxis Lane in Orlando.  The group will honor their late Soror Hattie McDanielwho died from breast cancer at the age of 57 on October 26, 1952. Miss McDaniel was the first African American to win an academy award (for her role as Mammy in the movie Gone with the Wind) and the first black woman to sing on American radio.

This year’s event includes dinner, interactive games, live performances, powerful speakers, activities and door prizes.  The Sorority will also announce the recipient of their Mwanamugimu Essay Contest scholarship and raffle winners. This event will run from 7:22 until 9:22 pm.  Event tickets include two free raffle tickets and can be purchased at the Eventbrite link below for a small donation of $10.00 plus a $2.24 processing fee.  Sales will end on Oct 22, 2019.  Seize this opportunity to positively impact someone’s life.
