How Will You Celebrate Independence Day?
By Sharon Fletcher Jones
However you choose to celebrate Independence Day, fireworks shows are almost always exciting. Among numerous celebrations, Fireworks at Lake Eola Fountain and the Star Spangled Sanford celebration at Fort Mellon Park are two of the most popular.
Join Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at Lake Eola Park for the 41st Annual Fireworks at the Fountain event. Orlando’s patriotic celebration will be filled with plenty of fun, food and fanfare. The festivities will begin at 4 p.m. with activities for children of all ages and live music. A variety of food and beverages will be available for purchase. The evening will end with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:10pm. If you can’t make it downtown to Lake Eola Park for the show, you can watch it live on News 6 WKMG/Click Orlando. For more information please visit http://www.cityoforlando.net/fireworks/.
Neighboring the City Beautiful, the city of Sanford is less than twenty minutes away. Join the 4th of July celebration at STAR SPANGLED SANFORD from 4:00 pm. until 10:00 pm. The celebration in Fort Mellon Park on the city’s magnificent River Walk will feature live music by The Vision Group, Whyte Tyger and the Kayonne Riley Downtown Trio. There will also be food, drink and merchandise vendors on site along with some of the best fireworks in central Florida! Bring your chairs for this great lakeside celebration. If you want to avoid the maddening crowds, you’ll surely find a space to park at the M Lounge. Located in downtown Orlando at 2000 N. Orange Avenue, Suite 300, it’s the perfect watch tower with cocktails and small plates in a contemporary open-air rooftop setting. With valet parking and an impressive auto collection on its ground floor, the M Lounge is quite an enjoyable retreat.
While we are celebrating our country’s independence, remember those whose sacrifices made it possible for us to enjoy it and honor those who remain on the frontlines defending any threat to our liberties.
Happy Independence Day!
