Step One: The Dance Project, Inc, under the artistic direction of Katrina Webster Baker celebrates its 10th year with a heartwarming production, Wakanda Forever: A Dancer’s Journey.
The dance tale unfolds as a young girl dreams that she has journeyed to the amazing land of Wakanda. The young dancer, Nia has lost confidence and her friends in the dance studio. Her mother uses the young dancer’s fascination with Wakanda and the Black Panther to peak her curiosity about her heritage of dance that extends over generations to Africa. That night she dreams she is dancing through Africa in the company of a Guardian Elder and her hero, the Black Panther. She prances with animals on a sun-kissed savanna, leaps into fantasies, tumbles through adventure, confronts her doubts with soul-searching, and joyously parades through the pageantry of her own coronation. Like the Black Panther, Nia becomes fearless, too—a dancer fiercely dancing with all her heart. Wakanda forever!
