Join us February 1 for the opening reception of paintings, mixed media and sculpture by this local artist collective devoted to honoring their cultural roots
Vibrant and timely, Keepers of Heritage: Puerto Rican Artists in Central Floridaoffers powerful paintings, mixed media and sculpture by a local collective of artists honoring their cultural roots at the Alice & William Jenkins Gallery, from Feb. 1 to May 18, 2019. The opening reception is on Friday, Feb. 1, from 7-9 p.m.
“The identity of the Puerto Rican encompasses a historical, social and cultural symbiosis of great multiethnic complexity,” explains Angel Rivera-Morales, artist and spokesperson for Keepers of Heritage. “Our art is the bearer of a heritage that speaks to us, expresses and points out who we are, where we come from and where we are going.”
Featured artists are Juan Nieves-Burgos, Alejandro de Jesús, JoséFeliciano, Carmelo Fontanez-Cortijo, Domingo Garcia, Yasir Nieves, Angel Rivera-Morales, Rafael Rivera-Rosa, Martín García Rivera, Pablo Rubio and Ivonne Galanes Svärd,
Rivera-Morales will introduce the work and talk about the collective at the opening reception on Feb. 1. Artist José Feliciano will lead an artist talk and discussion on March 3, at 2 p.m.

Exhibition & Events – There is never a charge to visit the Crealdé galleries or sculpture garden, and the opening receptions, tours and talk also are free and open to the public.
